Solar
We are developing a growing solar power business, which can generate electricity with no air emissions, no waste production and no water use.
In 2012 we entered the U.S. solar energy market with our acquisition of the 50 MW Silver State North, the first solar project built on U.S. public lands. Located in Clark County, Nevada, Silver State North generates enough emissions-free energy to serve the needs of about 9,000 homes, displacing about 42,000 metric tonnes of CO2 a year. Silver State North is a strategic complement to our three other Ontario-based solar projects including our 80 MW Sarnia Solar project, one of the largest operating photovoltaic facilities in the world.
