Enbridge is developing a growing portfolio in solar power, which can generate electricity with no emissions, no waste production, and no water use.
In 2012, we entered the U.S. solar energy market with our acquisition of the 50 MW Silver State North, the first solar project built on U.S. public lands. Located in Clark County, Nev., Silver State North generates enough emission-free energy to serve the needs of about 9,000 homes, and displaces about 42,000 metric tonnes of CO2 each year. Silver State North is a strategic complement to our three Ontario-based solar projects, including our 80 MW Sarnia Solar project -- one of the largest operating photovoltaic facilities in Canada.
Our Solar Power Investments - Key Facts:
150 MW - Emission-free power capacity from our solar investments.
25,000 - Number of homes that our solar investments can power each year.
92,000 tonnes - Annual greenhouse gas emission reductions represented by our solar investments.
