Wind

We have invested in more than 1000 MW of wind power capacity in North America.
Wind energy is one of the best choices for powering the future. It helps decrease acid rain, smog and the greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. It's also the fastest growing sector of electricity generation in North America, with growth rates of 30 per cent expected over the next decade.
We have interest in seven wind power projects that can generate a total of 1,009 MW. We own and operate the 190 MW Ontario Wind Energy Project in Bruce County, Ontario, the second largest wind farm in Canada. We also have interests in the Magrath and Chin Chute wind energy projects in Alberta , the SunBridge project in Saskatchewan, and the Talbot and Greenwich wind energy projects in Ontario.
In 2010 we announced our first project in the U.S. - the 250 MW Cedar Point wind energy project near Denver, Colorado. The project is scheduled to begin operation in 2011.
Our Wind Power Investments - Key Facts:
- 8 - number of wind farms in operation or under construction.
- 1,009 MW - total power capacity from our wind power investments in operation or under construction.
- 547 - number of turbines at Enbridge wind power projects in operation or under construction.
- 11% - Enbridge's contribution to Canada's current installed wind power capacity.
- 250,000 - number of homes that our wind farms can power each year.
- 1.16 million tonnes - annual greenhouse gas emission reductions represented by our wind power investments.
