Wind

We have invested in more than 1,000 MW of wind power capacity in North America.
Wind energy is one of the best choices for powering the future. It helps decrease acid rain, smog and the greenhouse gases that contribute to climate change. It's also the fastest growing sector of electricity generation in North America, with growth rates of 30 per cent expected over the next decade.
In 2011 we entered the growing Quebec wind energy market with our 50 per cent interest in the Lac Alfred Windfarm near Amqui, Quebec and followed that with the 150-MW Massif du Sud project in the Chaudiere-Appalaches Region of Quebec. These acquisitions bring the total generating capacity of our 10 windfarms to 1,169 MW, including the 190-MW Underwood & Cruickshank Windfarms in Bruce County, Ontario and the Cedar Point Windfarm in Colorado.
Our Wind Power Investments - Key Facts:
- 10 - number of wind farms in operation or under construction.
- 1,169 MW - total power capacity from our wind power investments in operation or under construction.
- 345,000 - number of homes that our wind farms can power each year.
- 1.3 million tonnes - annual greenhouse gas emission reductions represented by our wind power investments.
