Enbridge - Where energy meets people

Understanding Renewable Energy

Enbridge’s renewable energy projects help North Americans make the most of nature’s renewable resources.

Both Canada and the United States have abundant wind, solar and other resources. Many significant regions are suitable for development and construction of renewable energy projects, offering both land availability and access to electrical transmission.

Green energy is supported by consumers and citizens who understand that it helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The potential exists for wind and solar energy to provide 10 per cent of Canada’s electricity requirements in the next decade. In the U.S., renewable energy projects are being supported through incentive programs such as the Treasury Grant Program and the Production Tax Credit.

We see a bright future for the renewable energy industry in both Canada and the U.S. The business fundamentals are strong and sustainable. Electricity demand will continue to grow, and renewable energy is poised to meet a significant portion of that demand.
