Enbridge has paid dividends for almost 60 years. The annualized dividend has grown from $0.00375 to $01.13 per share, an average of 10 per cent per year. Enbridge's target dividend payout is 60 to 70 per cent of earnings, providing a healthy balance between returning income to shareholders and retaining income for re-investment in new opportunities.
All dividends paid by Enbridge Inc. are designated as eligible dividends, pursuant to Subsection 89(14) of the Income Tax Act. An eligible dividend paid to a Canadian resident is entitled to the enhanced dividend tax credit.
