The Line 78 Project will involve constructing approximately 79 miles of new crude oil pipeline, generally along existing routes in Illinois and Indiana. The preliminary pipeline route will be adjacent and parallel to the existing Enbridge Line 62 for the majority of the route. Line 78 will cross six counties in two states (Livingston, Grundy, Kankakee, Will, and Cook Counties, Ill. and Lake County, Ind.), with the origination point at Enbridge’s Flanagan Terminal near Pontiac, Ill. and terminating at Enbridge’s Terminal near Griffith, Ind. Enbridge is in the process of fine-tuning the routing alternatives, consulting with local communities and attempting to maximize routes that follow existing utility corridors if deviation from Enbridge’s existing route makes sense.
