Line 61 Upgrade Project - Phase 1
The Line 61 Upgrade Project - Phase 1 involves increasing the capacity on Line 61 (referred to as Southern Access Project during construction) between Enbridge’s Superior, Wis. Terminal and Flanagan Terminal near Pontiac, Ill. The Line 61 Project expands the capacity of the 42-inch pipeline from 400,000 bpd to 560,000 bpd.
The Line 61 Upgrade Project - Phase 1 requires the addition of pumping horsepower and crude oil tanks at or adjacent to existing sites and does not require pipeline construction outside station facilities. New pumping units, including all valves and appurtenances, will be installed at pump stations in Superior and Vesper, Wis., and a new pump station will be constructed adjacent to an existing Enbridge pump station near Sheldon, Wis. Modifications and upgrades are also planned for Enbridge’s pump station in Delavan, Wis.
Subject to the regulatory approvals, the Line 61 Project - Phase 1 will be in-service in mid-2014.
