The Dominion InstituteNicole Nicholas comes from a long line of Haida storytellers. So when she penned the story “First Contact,” about her ancestors’ first encounter with Europeans, she added another generation to its legacy. And won the Canadian Aboriginal Youth Writing Challenge along the way. At Enbridge, it’s just one of the many aboriginal heritage initiatives we’re proud to support.
Alberta BalletThe talented artists of the Alberta Ballet are at the heart of Alberta's performing arts community. Stollery Children’s Hospital FoundationEach year, thousands of Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation volunteers give their time to help kids like Jed Calhoun. We’re proud to provide the funding that has helped grow the program to over 1,500 volunteers. Because more hands can help more kids.
KLD Wellness FoundationThe KLD Wellness Foundation’s goal is to raise four of the $9 million needed to complete construction of a new hospital and health care facility in Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. With support from Enbridge, the historical town of Kerrobert will benefit from the innovations found in today’s modern hospitals.
The Winter Warmth FundIn Ontario, Enbridge Gas Distribution is committed to providing assistance to its customers who have a genuine inability to pay for their energy use. That’s why in 2004, Enbridge Gas Distribution, together with Toronto Hydro and the United Way, launched the Winter Warmth Fund.
The Keystone Science SchoolThis summer, for the fourth consecutive year, Enbridge sponsored eight teachers to head to Colorado to participate in The Keystone Science School’s Key Issues Institute environmental science workshop. These teachers are all from regions where we operate pipelines in the U.S.– including Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota and Oklahoma.
Habitat for HumanityIn support of our ongoing commitment to our communities, Enbridge participated and sponsored Habitat for Humanity’s Wood Build – a five-unit housing complex in north-central Edmonton. And in March 2006, eight members of the Phillips family received keys to their very first home. Sixty-seven Enbridge employees donated close to 900 hours to the projects. Enbridge volunteers had their personal time matched by the company to allow for a full week leave from their job.
Enbridge Research Chair in Psychosocial OncologyIn November 2005, Enbridge announced its largest community investment to date – the Enbridge Research Chair in Psychosocial Oncology at the University of Calgary, in partnership with the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Canadian Cancer Society, Alberta & N.W.T.
