Our Performance
Some examples include:
- In Canada, Enbridge continued to work on its mainline leak-site remediation program. During 2006, delineation, monitoring, and/or remediation continued at 22 contaminated sites. Work will continue at these sites in 2007.
- In the United States, Liquids Pipelines is assessing historic leaks on both our Mid-Continent Liquids System and Spearhead Pipeline system. In 2007, we will be taking more steps, including site visits and possibly additional investigation and remediation if warranted at any location on both systems. We also completed additional testing and remediation activities at a significant historic release site in Illinois and closed three sites in 2006 to the satisfaction of the regulatory agencies.
- Our United States Gas Transportation Business’s plant in Springtown, Texas, treats and processes gas. Past operations at the plant, before Enbridge ownership, released hydrocarbons, which have been detected in local groundwater. In 2005, we completed an evaluation that confirmed there is hydrocarbon contamination in the soil and groundwater of the site and adjacent properties. Initial results indicate that the contamination is naturally remediating. Enbridge is monitoring this progress under the supervision of the State and will take any necessary actions should the situation change.
