At Enbridge, there are no dividing lines
between good business practices and
being a responsible company - one that
is ethical, is a steward of the environment,
is safe, engages its stakeholders and is
attentive to social needs.
Social responsibility encompasses every area
of our business, whether we call it CSR or
just "doing our job."
This philosophy is the foundation of this
CSR Report, which documents the different
aspects of our environmental, economic and
social performance. It is also the driving
force behind our company's CSR Advisory
Committee, which was formed in 2004.
Comprised of senior staff from throughout
the organization, the committee plays a
critical role in advancing CSR at Enbridge
by providing advice to senior management
on CSR policies, strategies, planning
and performance.
"They are the people who sit on the 'hot seat'
in terms of helping to lead CSR at Enbridge,
being frequently called on to field answers to
some of our company's toughest environmental
and social questions," says D'Arcy Levesque,
Vice President, Public and Government Affairs,
and chair of the 19-person committee.
"Their involvement in this committee and
their different operational roles are testimony
to the seriousness with which Enbridge
approaches CSR."
In 2004, the committee was actively
engaged at every stage of the development
and review of this report. This report also
features interviews with selected members
of the CSR Advisory Committee.
