Celebrating our roots

Celebrating our roots

Enbridge employees and their families enjoyed beautiful fall weather and helped celebrate Enbridge’s 60th anniversary by planting trees at special events held in Edmonton on Sept. 23 and Calgary on Sept. 26. To mark the company’s first 60 years, Enbridge will be planting more than 60,000 trees in 60 communities along our rights of way in Canada and the United States.

Enbridge also donated 6,000 trees to both the City of Edmonton and the City of Calgary along with $50,000 to each city to support the initiative, part of the company’s Natural Legacy program.

“This gift of trees is our way of giving back to the communities in which, over the past 60 years, we have established our roots, as a business and as families,” said Patrick D. Daniel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Enbridge Inc. “Because our pipelines stretch across the continent and cross the properties of thousands of landowners, our growth and success as a North American leader in energy delivery are thanks to the support of these communities. We hope these trees will be part of our legacy as a company and our commitment to environmental stewardship.”

In Edmonton, the donated trees are being planted in Louise McKinney Park and in the communities of Millwoods and Haddow. In Calgary, trees will be planted in Edworthy Park, Shouldice Athletic Park, the Bonnybrook Water Treatment Plant site, Ralph Klein Regional Park and the Haskayne Regional Park, creating 55,000 square metres of new canopy once the trees mature.
