The Fort Hills oil sands project includes one of the largest remaining undeveloped oil sands leases in the Athabasca region, containing more than four billion barrels of recoverable bitumen. Fort Hills Energy L.P., a limited partnership including UTS Energy Corporation and Teck Cominco and led by Petro-Canada Oil Sands Inc., has selected Enbridge Pipelines (Athabasca) Inc. to construct and operate the pipeline and terminalling facilities required for its oil sands mine and bitumen extraction plant, located 90 kilometres north of Fort McMurray, and its upgrader, located in Sturgeon County northeast of Edmonton.
