Project Overview

The Hardisty Contract Tankage project includes 19 new tanks located adjacent to Enbridge’s existing mainline system terminal at Hardisty, Alberta. The tanks are typical of those already used by Enbridge Pipelines Inc. and range in size from 250,000 to 530,000 barrels for a total capacity of 7.5 million barrels (bbl).

While tanks in the existing Hardisty Terminal are used as part of the mainline operation, these new tanks will house products from specific companies for longer periods of time.

Hardisty Contract Tankage Project components include:

  • 18 crude oil tanks and one condensate tank
  • Associated piping, metering, manifolds, and booster pumps to facilitate crude oil transfers to and from various pipeline systems and terminals
  • The 19 tanks will range in size as follows:
    • 5 - 250,000 bbl tanks
    • 6 - 333,000 bbl tanks
    • 8 - 530,000 bbl tanks

The facility has an initial capacity of 7.5 million barrels in total (approximate) and includes room for future expansion, which may include additional tanks and truck unloading facilities.
