Enbridge Wind Power

We believe in doing our part to contribute to the future by investing in renewable and alternative energy sources that complement our core operations and provide environmental benefits. Wind power fits our strategy of working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and address the issue of global climate change.

Ontario’s commitment to renewable energy

The Ontario government is committed to ensuring that electricity from renewable sources becomes an important part of Ontario's energy future. More renewable energy will help reduce reliance on coal-fired generation and provide cleaner air and a better quality of life for Ontarians. This wind power development was awarded through an Ontario Power Authority Request for Proposals.

Ontario Wind Power Project update

In July 2007, the project received final regulatory approval from the Ontario Municipal Board and construction began on access roads for the 80 metre high wind turbines that will be erected at the 181.5 megawatt wind farm. About one-quarter of the 110 turbines should be operational by August 2008, with the rest supplying green energy to the province's power grid by the end of the year.
