Ontario Wind Power - contributing to the quality of life in communities where we operate

Project Overview

Enbridge Ontario Wind Power LP (“Enbridge”) is planning to develop and operate a wind power project in the northern part of the Municipality of Kincardine. The proposed project would generate 181.5 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy – enough electricity to supply up to 60,000 Ontario homes.

The project generation facilities are to consist of 110 wind turbine generators, each capable of producing 1.65 MW. Other project components include access roads, overhead and underground 44 kilovolt (kV) electrical collection lines, and a 44 kV to 230 kV electrical substation. Commencement of an Environmental Screening Process for this project was announced in June 2004, and Enbridge's Statement of Completion was filed with the Ministry of the Environment in 2007.

Project construction has commenced. Enbridge anticipates that 25 percent of the project will be producing power into the Ontario grid by August 2008, and full commissioning will be complete by the end of 2008.
