Environmental Management

Enbridge Ontario Wind Power L.P. has conducted and is conducting environmental assessments to meet the requirements of the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act.

In June 2004, the public was given notice of the Commencement of an Environmental Screening Report for this proposed project. An Environmental Screening was prepared according to the requirements of the Ontario Ministry of the Environment March 2001 Guide to Environmental Assessment Requirements for Electricity Projects.

The Screening Report was made available for public review and comment. Enbridge does not anticipate any significant adverse effects to the environment during either the construction or operational phases of this project. Enbridge's Statement of Completion of the Environment Screening Process was filed with the Ministry of the Environment in 2007.

Environmental Screening Process

The purpose of the Environmental Screening Process is to assess the potential for environmental (biophysical and socio-economic) effects related to the proposed wind energy generation facility. The Environmental Screening Report was prepared by Dillon Consulting Ltd. and describes the potential for a variety of effects from the project, such as sound levels, visual impact, loss of vegetation, loss of agricultural land, effects to birds and other wildlife and effects to cultural resources. Issues raised by stakeholders and submitted to the project proponent have also been considered in the screening process.
