  • Enbridge Pipelines (Saskatchewan) Inc. received gold champion reporting status, and Enbridge Pipelines Inc. received silver status for their 2000 submissions to Canada's Climate Change Voluntary Challenge and Registry Inc. (VCR Inc.).

2000

  • Enbridge Pipelines (Saskatchewan) Inc. received gold champion reporting status, and Enbridge Pipelines Inc. received silver status for their 1999 submissions to Canada's Climate Change Voluntary Challenge and Registry Inc. (VCR Inc.).
  • Enbridge participated in a pilot National Energy Board (NEB) audit to verify compliance with aspects of Part VI of the 1999 Onshore Pipelines Regulations.

1999

  • The Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index ranked Enbridge Inc. as the company with the leading sustainability score within the energy pipeline category.
  • Enbridge received an AA rating (scale ranges from AAA-CCC), ranking 5th out of 22 companies in its sector, in the Innovest EcoValue'21 environmental ratings.
  • Enbridge Pipelines Inc. received an honourable mention for the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association (CEPA) Environmental Management Award for "partnerships entered into to further the goals of sustainable development."
  • The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources recognized Lakehead Pipe Line Company Inc. for its role in a statewide partnership to protect the federally endangered Karner Blue Butterfly.
  • Enbridge Pipelines Inc. was awarded honourable mention in the Oil and Gas - Pipeline and Natural Gas Distribution category for its 1998 submission to VCR Inc.
  • The Enbridge Climate Change Task Force was established to implement an effective corporate framework to manage greenhouse gas emissions against a background of continuing policy uncertainty.
  • Pat Daniel, Enbridge President & Chief Executive Officer was instrumental in creating a nation-wide greenhouse gas emissions reduction program, Action By Canadians to promote voluntary action by individual Canadians.

1998

  • Enbridge Pipelines Inc. received the CEPA Environmental Management Award recognizing superior performance related to habitat protection, mitigation and restoration.
  • An environment-themed tank mural at Regina Terminal, depicting the White-tailed Deer common to the area and the endangered Piping Plover, was commissioned to help launch the new Enbridge brand.
