Line 3 Replacement Program: Construction safety awareness

Construction of the Line 3 Replacement Program (L3RP) is on track for a targeted in-service date of July 2019 in Canada. The entire project, including the U.S. portion in Minnesota, is anticipated to be in service in the latter half of 2019.

As of year-end 2018, approximately 90% of the pipe has been laid in the ground over the 1,070 km Canadian project right of way (ROW). We anticipate pipeline construction to be complete in the first quarter of 2019, followed by line fill and commissioning as well as final cleanup and restoration of the ROW in the 2018 construction spreads through the fall of 2019.

In addition to more than 1,000 km of new, Canadian-made pipe, the L3RP in Canada includes 18 new pump stations and new oil storage tanks and related infrastructure at Enbridge’s Hardisty Terminal.  As of year-end 2018, pump station construction is 75% complete and Hardisty Terminal construction is 66% complete. We anticipate Pump Station and Terminal construction to be completed in the second quarter of 2019.

As construction continues, our crews are still out and about in and around the Line 3 pipeline right of way — hazards to watch for along the right of way include construction materials, topsoil piles, open excavations, above-ground pipe and temporary fencing.

Snow and fog can hinder your vision. Please avoid the construction area when operating all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles. Our top priority is to ensure the safety of communities, our employees and contractors. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
