New commercial features unlikely star

Symbol of vision, loyalty and protection

Throughout history, many crests and national symbols incorporated roosters, which represent protection, loyalty and unique ability to forge a path.

Now, the unique characteristics of the rooster have earned it a prime spot in a new television commercial for Enbridge.

North America’s premier pipeline company recently unveiled “Tomorrow is on.” The 30-second spot is airing throughout U.S. cities, including those in Michigan, and can be viewed here.

The commercial opens with the rooster emerging in the pre-dawn hours, sight set toward the vast field before it. It continues walking various paths throughout town, with a narrator sharing Enbridge’s key message about its vision for the future.

“Roosters symbolize keen vision,” said Paul Meneghini, Enbridge’s manager of community engagement. “That resonates with Enbridge, because we have our sight on the continued safe operation of our pipeline system today while forging diverse energy paths toward tomorrow.”

Enbridge’s plan for tomorrow includes building its energy network as a bridge toward a clean-energy future.

As shared in the commercial, Enbridge plans to invest billions of additional dollars on renewable energy and low-carbon solutions by 2025.

“For generations, families and businesses have relied on Enbridge to provide heat, fuel and other energy,” said Meneghini.

“We understand there is no single path to achieving net zero, though modernizing our pipeline system, which includes Line 5 in the Straits of Mackinac, is a key part of that future.”

Enbridge is planning to construct the Great Lakes Tunnel deep below the lakebed of the Straits. The concrete tunnel will house a replacement section of Line 5, eliminating the chance of an anchor strike to it and reducing the chance of a release to near zero.
