First two Enbridge renewable energies technician scholarships honoured at Fanshawe College ceremony

ST. THOMAS, Ontario (May 11, 2017)—Fanshawe College hosted an inspirational awards ceremony for the St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus on Thursday April 27th, 2017. Guests included students, their families, scholarship award sponsors, faculty, staff and friends of Fanshawe College. The event was held at the historic CASO Train Station in downtown St. Thomas, Ontario.
The evening began with formal greetings from the Dean of Regional and Continuing Education along with leaders from the Fanshawe College Board of Governors, Foundation, Alumni Board and Student Union. This was followed by dinner and the presentation of student awards in recognition of academic achievement and leadership. The evening was completed with an impassioned and heartfelt message from guest speaker Glen Pearson, former MP, Humanitarian and Co-Executive Director of the London Food Bank.
The 2017 annual awards ceremony was the largest and most successful ceremony yet for the St. Thomas/Elgin Campus. 18 students were honoured with scholarship awards and bursaries covering every full time program offered at the Campus. Several new awards were added this year including the two largest Scholarships ever offered at this Campus. Enbridge Inc. generously funded two new $3,000 scholarships for students in the Renewable Energies Technician Diploma Program.
The St. Thomas/Elgin Regional Campus, located at 120 Bill Martyn Parkway, St. Thomas, Ontario, is home to approximately 650 full-time students and 800 part-time students. The Campus offers certificate and diploma programs, academic upgrading, apprenticeships, continuing education, corporate training, and career employment services. Fanshawe College is celebrating its 50th Anniversary in 2017. Fanshawe College’s permanent presence in St. Thomas/Elgin began in 1970 with the first Campus being on Ontario Road, St. Thomas.
