RM of Griffin and provincial environmental approvals of Seven Stars project

At its regular Council meeting on July 21, 2026, the Rural Municipality (RM) of Griffin approved a development permit application for Enbridge’s proposed Seven Stars wind energy project.

“Enbridge thanks the RM Council and staff for their time and diligence in considering our application,” said Sukhminder Purba, Director, Power Business Development Canada.

Griffin Council’s decision follows provincial approval on July 14, 2026 of the project’s Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment following a comprehensive environmental review process that evaluated potential impacts on wildlife, land, water, cultural resources and local communities.

“The EIS decision reflects the strength of our environmental planning, our commitment to meaningful community engagement, and our determination to develop energy infrastructure that respects the environment and benefits the people of Saskatchewan,” Purba added.

Throughout the EIS process, Enbridge has engaged with landowners, local officials, community residents and organizations, First Nations and Métis communities and other interested parties to obtain input and address questions. “We appreciate the constructive input we’ve received from all of these groups,” said Purba.

“We have worked diligently to design Seven Stars in a way that respects the land, protects wildlife, and recognizes the needs and values of local communities.”

With the EIS and RM of Griffin approvals, Enbridge must still make a final investment decision on the project before construction activities can begin.
