Enbridge’s Canadian Legal Mentorship Program

We’re excited to open the application process to participate in Enbridge’s Legal Mentorship Program. At Enbridge, we understand the need and benefits of a more inclusive legal workforce. Pursuing a law degree can be challenging for anyone, and there are additional barriers for people in marginalized communities. We want to do our part to support the next generation of lawyers in our communities, with the ultimate vision of having a more inclusive legal profession.

Our vision

To provide a casual and welcoming atmosphere where a group of law students are encouraged to engage with Enbridge lawyers on topics that would support them in becoming successful lawyers.

Enbridge lawyers are encouraged to share personal stories of their legal journey and provide guidance to these students as they would to their friends or family members.

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for law students who are registered in Ontario or Alberta law schools and identify as Black1 or Indigenous Peoples2.

In addition, for our Alberta schools, we are welcoming first generation and internationally trained law students to the program.

Students in 1L will be given priority.

1 Those who self-identify as Black.
2 Those who self-identify as Indigenous Peoples of Canada, including First Nation (status or non-status), Inuit, and Métis peoples.

What’s in it for you

Enbridge has a large Legal Services team of legal professionals and lawyers who are eager and willing to support their peers. More specifically, Enbridge does work in 15 practice areas, operates in jurisdictions across Canada and the U.S., and works with many leading external law firms.

Our goal is for you to be well supported by offering group mentorship along with individual mentorship. This program is a great opportunity to network with not only practicing lawyers but to connect you with students from other law schools.

This program has been recognized at the Canadian Law Awards with the Diversity Initiative of the Year (2024) for its outstanding efforts in promoting diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Become part of a thriving community that has supported more than 65 students in the past three years as we embark on our exciting fourth year.

Structure and commitment

We know that law school can be demanding, which is why this program is a minimal time commitment and the application process is very simple.

The program will take place over one school year and include one-on-one mentorship with an Enbridge lawyer. Group mentorship sessions, available each with featured topics, and in-person networking opportunities may also be available.

We welcome students who are serious about mentorship and can commit to meeting their mentor at least once per month.
