Enbridge donation enhances Blandford-Blenheim emergency response preparedness

On November 28th Blandford-Blenheim Fire Chief Rick Richardson (right) was presented a cheque for $10,000 from Enbridge Pipelines through its Safe Community program towards the Fire Department’s purchase of a Polaris 6x6 off road response vehicle. Presenting the cheque were Enbridge Sarnia Terminal Supervisor Terry McNally (left) and Emergency Response Coordinator David Clarke.  

DRUMBO, ON (November 28, 2016) — Blandford-Blenheim Fire Services will add to the firefighting toolbox a Polaris 6x6 offroad vehicle to enhance grass firefighter and EMS extraction services in rural parts of the Township, thanks to a donation of $10,000 from Enbridge.

“We are pleased to receive this generous donation from Enbridge to help upgrade some our rural response capacity in hard to access areas of the Township,” said Blandford-Blenheim Fire Chief Rick Richardson. “We are proud of the service we provide to our community and this will help further our emergency response activities.”

The funds were provided as part of Enbridge’s Safe Community Program which provides financial support to first responders and safety driven organizations to acquire new equipment, obtain professional training or deliver educational programs. The program has provided approximately $9.3 million in funding to organizations across North America since its inception in 2002. Through investments in partnerships and human capital, Enbridge supports organizations that contribute to the economic, environmental and social well-being of communities near its operations.

“The acquisition of an off road Polaris vehicle will contribute to a safer community for everyone and we are honored to assist those efforts,” says Ken Hall, senior community engagement advisor with Enbridge. “Equipping front-line responders with the equipment they need to effectively perform their duty is good for them and even better for us should we ever need to call upon their services.”
