PETROLIA, ON (Sept. 10, 2019)—Safety improvements will be completed at the L.C. Henderson Conservation Area in Petrolia this fall due to a generous donation by Enbridge. On Tuesday, September 10th, Ken Hall, Enbridge Senior Strategist, Community and Indigenous Engagement, presented a cheque totalling $5,000 to the Chair of the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA), Joe Faas.

“At Enbridge safety is always our number one priority and this commitment extends to our engagement with the municipalities where we have assets and infrastructure,” said Ken Hall, senior advisor community engagement. “Enbridge is very pleased to support this SCRCA project at Lorne C. Henderson Conservation Area as the safety of the thousands of students and members of the public that use the Conservation Area is very important to Enbridge and the SCRCA.”

“We are very grateful to Enbridge and their continuing support of the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority. These funds will go towards upgrading and improving heavily used areas to improve the safety and enjoyment of our campers, the students who participate in our outdoor education programs and our day-use visitors,” said Joe Faas, SCRCA Chair.

The L.C. Henderson Conservation Area is home to the SCRCA Education Centre which welcomes over 10,000 students a year to explore nature and learn about environmental issues impacting the St. Clair Region. The adjacent campground consists of over 150 sites which accommodate both seasonal and overnight camping. Many trails are available to explore, attracting many day-use nature enthusiasts.

The Enbridge donation will support the construction of a pond edge boardwalk, a dedicated roadside walkway and a trail-stabilizing retaining wall. “These improvements will not only benefit the safety of our students and visitors, but also the educational and camping experiences they are coming here to enjoy,” said Faas.

The L.C. Henderson Conservation Area is located at 3653 Petrolia Line, just west of the Town of Petrolia.
