Appalachia to Market II and Armagh and Entriken HP Replacement Projects

The Appalachia to Market II and Armagh and Entriken Replacement projects are designed to provide additional firm natural gas transportation to serve utilities and help meet growing demand for reliable, affordable energy and to modernize and strengthen our infrastructure network.

The Armagh and Entriken Replacement projects support the continued safe and reliable operation of the existing Armagh and Entriken Compressor Stations by replacing natural gas-driven compressor units with new, more energy-efficient electric-motor-driven units.

To accommodate the switch from a gas-driven compressor unit to an electric-motor-driven compressor unit at Entriken, an additional power line will be needed given the significant energy requirements of the new unit.

Additional information about the electric transmission needs for Entriken can be found on our Entriken Optimization fact sheet.

The projects also propose to install approximately 2 miles of new pipeline in Lebanon County, and make modifications at two existing compressor stations.

The facilities required for the projects are generally located within and adjacent to Texas Eastern’s existing right-of-way and at existing compressor stations owned and operated by Texas Eastern.

Project Information:

Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity

On Oct. 23, 2023, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to construct and operate the Appalachia to Market II and Armagh and Entriken HP Replacement Projects. This approval authorizes Texas Eastern, subject to certain conditions, to commence construction of the facilities in early 2024 and to place the project in service in 2025.

A copy of the Order can be found on the FERC docket by clicking here.

Issuance of Environmental Assessment

On February 10, 2023, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Appalachia to Market II and Armagh and Entriken HP Replacement Projects.

Overall, FERC staff concluded that approval of the Project would not result in significant environmental impacts. It also found that no system or other alternative would provide a significant environmental advantage over the Project as proposed.

A full copy of the EA can be found on the FERC docket by clicking here.

FERC has invited anyone interested in commenting on the EA to do so on or before 5:00pm Eastern Time on March 13, 2023. For details on how to comment, visit www.FERC.gov.
