Clear Fork Solar Project
Return to projectFrequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is the Clear Fork Solar Project?
- Clear Fork is a 600-megawatt (MW) utility-scale solar facility located in Wilson County, Texas.
Who will use the energy produced?
- The full renewable output will be delivered to Meta Platforms, Inc. under a long-term offtake agreement.
How large is the project?
- Clear Fork spans approximately 4,600 acres of privately owned land.
What are the economic benefits?
- Construction activities will increase spending in the local economy for goods and service providers. Once operational, Clear Fork will increase tax revenue for Wilson County—dollars that can be used to support public services, infrastructure and schools.
How is the project being funded?
- The estimated capital cost is US$900 million, supported by Enbridge’s low-risk commercial model and financial strength.
How are the safety risks around fires being addressed?
- To address fire safety risks, a formal vegetation management plan will be implemented to control plant growth and reduce ignition potential near electrical infrastructure and access roads. Additionally, Enbridge’s Remote Operations Center ensures 24/7 monitoring for rapid anomaly detection, while ongoing coordination with local fire departments equips first responders with the necessary tools and training for effective response.
