Indigenous and Stakeholder Engagement

Since early 2023, Westcoast has been engaging with Indigenous groups, landowners, and other stakeholders with an interest in the Project. We have worked with them to finalize the Project design and routing, addressing feedback received and results from the extensive community and Westcoast-led environmental, archaeological and geotechnical studies.

Our extensive engagement work has resulted in over 80 letters of support submitted to the CER.

Westcoast is committed to developing economic opportunities for Indigenous groups and local communities ranging from training and employment opportunities to the procurement of goods and services from Indigenous businesses through a proactive supply chain process. These opportunities are provided from the early investigative studies through construction and into long-term operations. As of March 2026, over $54 million has been spent on the hiring and procuring of services from Indigenous businesses.
