The best work is safe work.

That is at the heart of what drives Erica Fink, a volunteer firefighter and eight-year U.S. Navy veteran who assumed in April the role of regional area manager for Enbridge Line 5 in Michigan.

Tapping into her military background and passion for public safety, Fink brings to fellow Michiganders and Enbridge more than 20 years’ experience in the energy sector—including as a worker in a tank farm.

Fink has extensive experience in maritime, oil and gas, risk management, and safety. For nearly five years, she worked throughout Michigan as a gas operations supervisor for DTE Energy.

“I fell in love with northern Michigan,” said Fink, who moved from St. Ignace to Escanaba. “Michigan is home to me, and I am eager to continue working with our communities and a fantastic Enbridge team.”

As for her priorities, Fink is quick to cite safety.

“The Enbridge Straits Maritime Operations Center (ESMOC) is phenomenal,” she said.

“It is technologically advanced, complemented by a highly qualified team in place 24/7 to help protect the Straits of Mackinac from ship traffic.”

With safety and security in mind, Fink also shared that she is eager to help bring the Great Lakes Tunnel to fruition.

“Building a tunnel underwater is an engineering feat that has proven effective across the globe,” said Fink.

“France and England have the Channel Tunnel (also called Chunnel), which continues to operate safely, and we in Michigan will have the Great Lakes Tunnel. The Great Lakes Tunnel is essential to the continued safe operation of Line 5 and eliminating a release into the Straits that we treasure.”

Fink, an avid kayaker and swimmer who also enjoys fishing, is passionate about her interactions with people.

“I feel strongly that we do the right thing, demonstrate our credibility and channel our passion to reassuring our communities that we are keeping people safe while providing the essential energy that they need.”
