Few things can compete with a mesmerizing display of festive lights, live music and food to help get people in the holiday spirit.
The Rapid River Business Association is sponsoring the second annual Light Up the Park event at Rapid River Park, at the Masonville Township Recreation Center on Cole Street. Gates open at 5 p.m. and will close at 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18. Guests may enjoy the displays from their vehicles or walk through the lighted area.
“This outdoor event enables the community to enjoy spectacular lights, music and food while helping a good cause,” said Emma Cook, an Enbridge community engagement advisor. “Admission is free, though we are welcoming donations of canned and boxed food, which the Rapid River Business Association will donate to area food pantries.”

In addition to the lights, Blue Barn Farm will be on site selling donuts and cider, while the Rapid River Class of 2025 will be in the Whoville pavilion with other festive food.
Not to be outdone, Santa will be in a life-sized snow globe, where Bel Photography will be taking complimentary photos. Reflections will provide live music.
Local Enbridge employees joined a number of other volunteers, including those from the Rapid River Business Association and the Rapid River Key Club, in decorating and setting up the event, held three consecutive Saturdays in December. Enbridge also donated $5,000 to help sponsor the event, as well as the generators and extension cords that help power it.
