Pelican Sequestration Hub

Pipeline Project

Enbridge and 1PointFive (a subsidiary of Occidental) have formed a partnership to develop the Pelican Sequestration Hub and related pipeline transportation infrastructure in parts of Ascension and Livingston Parishes in southeastern Louisiana.

The project will involve the construction and operation of a new, approximately 50-mile-long CO2 pipeline transportation system originating in Ascension Parish and ending at the Pelican Sequestration Hub in Livingston Parish. Enbridge will develop, construct, and operate the pipeline, and 1PointFive will develop the facilities required to permanently store the carbon dioxide (CO2) deep underground, as part of the carbon capture and storage (CCS) process.

Enbridge has been safely operating in Louisiana for more than 75 years. From generating substantial tax revenue and creating employment opportunities to making meaningful community investments, we are committed to actively supporting local growth and development. Building upon these efforts, the Pelican Sequestration Hub Pipeline Project will protect and create jobs associated with the manufacturing facilities it supports and generate tax revenues that support local communities, such as infrastructure, education and emergency services.

Project overview:

  • Type: Approx. 50-mile pipeline
  • Location: Originates in Ascension Parish; terminates at Pelican Sequestration Hub in Livingston Parish
  • Status: Early development*
  • Expected to transport: Carbon dioxide (CO2)
  • In-service target date: 2029

* Enbridge is assessing the best potential transportation routes. No construction work has commenced at this time.

Community engagement

Enbridge has begun the early stages of engineering and planning to identify the most suitable pipeline route and pipeline diameter. The proposed route is dynamic, meaning it is subject to refinement as we continue to conduct surveys and work with landowners.

As part of this process, we're actively engaging with community members to listen, share information, and gather feedback to help guide our decisions. Recognizing the importance of public input, we will offer numerous opportunities for community involvement as development progresses. If you'd like to talk about the project, please reach out to us at 1-866-315-9447.

Safety

Our highest priority is safe operations and protecting the community and environment. Enbridge prioritizes safety and quality at every stage of pipeline construction, and with decades of experience safely operating underground pipelines for various energy products, we will safely operate and monitor the pipeline once in service.

Map Approximately 75% of the proposed route is co-located with existing pipeline and electric transmission corridors where feasible to minimize impacts to environment and property.
