A longstanding commitment to public disclosure, accountability and continuous improvement

Global population growth. Rapidly escalating data center and AI needs. The resurgence of North American manufacturing.

Demand for energy continued to grow worldwide in 2024—and Enbridge continued to deliver it safely, reliably and sustainably.

“To meet increased demand across North America and around the world, while continuing to drive down emissions intensity, we believe an energy evolution, which will take all forms of energy, will be required,” write Enbridge President and CEO Greg Ebel and Board Chair Steven Williams.

“Economies, societies and consumers benefit from reliable, affordable and sustainable energy choices. Enbridge’s strategy—and our portfolio of oil, natural gas and renewable power businesses—are critical to maintaining a balanced approach that we believe enables a durable energy evolution.”

Today, Enbridge published our 2024 Sustainability Report and Datasheet, providing an overview of our focus on sustainable business strategy. It’s our 24th annual report, reflecting our longstanding commitment to public disclosure, accountability and continuous improvement.

Highlights of our 2024 Sustainability Report include:

  • Maintaining progress toward our goal to curb greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity, including a 40% reduction in GHG emissions intensity from our operations and a 22% reduction in absolute GHG emissions compared to our 2018 baseline.1,2
  • A 23% reduction in work-related injuries and safety incidents among employees and contractors.3
  • Continued reporting on progress towards commitments we made in our Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan.

“This year’s Sustainability Report, our 24th in as many years, provides an update to stakeholders on our progress, the work that remains and Enbridge’s unwavering commitment to continuous improvement,” notes Pete Sheffield, Enbridge’s Chief Sustainability Officer.

“How well we perform as a safe operator of essential energy infrastructure, a steward of the environment and a responsible corporate citizen continues to be core to our mission to be North America’s first-choice energy delivery company,” adds Sheffield.

At Enbridge, we continue to focus on safely providing the energy needed today while simultaneously advancing solutions for tomorrow.

1 GHG emissions are from assets over which Enbridge has operational control (Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions). Projected reductions of GHG emissions intensity and absolute emissions are relative to the 2018 baseline year.
2 This metric aggregates emissions and throughput for each business unit on the basis of tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per energy delivered in petajoules (PJ).
3 Excludes U.S. gas utilities employees and contractors.
