Enbridge gas transmission projects serve escalating needs in Gulf Coast, New England
It’s not just data that’s driving renewed power demand in the U.S.
Reindustrialization and the reshoring of manufacturing are expected to push American industrial power consumption growth by as much as 3% a year through 2035—competing with data centers in projected U.S. annual demand growth through 2030.
Enbridge’s natural gas transportation network is located within 50 miles of 78 coal-fired generation plants, 45% of all North American natural gas power generation, and 29 new data centers.
And we’re also supporting that surging industrial and power demand with nearly US$0.5 billion in recently announced gas transmission growth projects.
"We’re seeing a significant amount of customer interest in everything—gas-fired power generation as baseload, data center requirements, coal-to-gas conversions, and frankly just good old industrial demand."

Enbridge President and Chief Executive Officer
“We have, just on the gas transmission side, 35-plus opportunities to serve up to 11 billion cubic feet a day of new demand,” said Cynthia Hansen, Enbridge’s Executive Vice President and President of our Gas Transmission and Midstream business, during Enbridge’s 2025 second-quarter financial earnings call on Aug. 1.

“We’re seeing a significant amount of customer interest in everything—gas-fired power generation as baseload, data center requirements, coal-to-gas conversions, and frankly just good old industrial demand,” Enbridge President and CEO Greg Ebel said earlier this year at our Enbridge Day investor community conference.
“And that means,” added Ms. Hansen, “that the super system we have is going to continue to deliver.”
