The Ironwood Theatre seats just over 700 people and holds one of only six Barton organs in its original place of construction in the entire United States.

The restored proscenium mural has quite a history of its own. The artistry of the original three-panel mural was designed and painted by Continental Studios Incorporated. The company painted the mural shortly after the construction phase of the Ironwood Theatre in 1928.

The restoration of the Ironwood Theatre’s mural began in 1994 with Affiliated Artists as project directors. David Strickland, muralist, monitored the entire restoration process.

The Bartola Musical Company of Oshkosh, Wisconsin installed more than 350 organs in movie theatres during the silent film era. Of these, the Ironwood Theatre’s Barton is one of only six remaining operable original installations.

“The theatre was in danger of being lost just before it underwent its restoration in the ’80s,” says Greenhill. Fortunately, "we have an amazing community of folks who, at the time and to this day, felt very strongly about the theatre. They invested an incredible amount of time, energy and finances to save it.”

“The seniors that come in still get a sparkle in their eye remembering the first kiss they had up in the balcony when they were teenagers," says Greenhill.
