Bayfield Fish Hatchery: Reawakening history
Once the largest fish hatchery in the world, the Bayfield Fish Hatchery in northern Wisconsin has been raising fish since 1897. The facility supports the community’s rich history by rearing lake trout and brown trout for Lake Superior, Lake Michigan and inland lakes. An Enbridge community investment grant is honoring the past and supporting vibrant communities by helping to renovate the exterior of the hatchery’s R.D. Pike Building. “Enbridge has been such a great collaborative partner,” says Todd, with the Friends of the R.D. Pike Building, who adds the group looks forward to the time when “we can point to this with great pride.”
