‘A chance to build this in their own backyard’
Operating engineers are in demand in Wisconsin. “There’s a lot of great work right now. We’re looking for equipment operators—people who want to run dozers, excavators, cranes,” says Dan, Vice President of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 139. The IUOE has been conducting pipeline training for its members and apprentices for 30 years at its 400-acre training facility in Coloma, WI. “Enbridge, they’re willing to truly invest to make sure the (Line 5 Wisconsin Segment Relocation Project) is done right and done safely,” says Dan. “To have our men and women working on that Line 5 project, we’re excited for that.”
