Gulfstream Pipeline: Florida’s first new energy source in 40 years
The Gulfstream Natural Gas System, emanating from Mississippi and Alabama, entered service in energy-hungry Florida on May 28, 2002 as the Sunshine State’s first new fuel source in 40 years. Media coverage of the Duke Energy-Williams project, which took 2,500 workers less than a year to build across the Gulf of Mexico, noted the competition would provide consumers with greater reliability and affordability. Enbridge has a 50% ownership stake in Gulfstream.
