L3R construction: Ensuring safety, protecting water

During pipeline construction, where the water table is high, we need to remove standing water from open trenches to ensure worker safety. Water is pumped out of the trench and relocated to a nearby containment structure (usually filter bags or straw bale structures), and gradually released back to the ground in that location, not depleting the water table and following strict environmental permits and regulations. “Protecting that resource is vitally important to Enbridge,” says Dave, an Engineering and Construction Manager on the Line 3 replacement.
