Why did I receive a check from Spectra, when the company is now known as Enbridge following your merger?

Our Answer

James asked this question on March 4, 2017.

Hi James,

If you were a registered shareholder of Spectra Energy, you will receive a check issued by Enbridge from our transfer agent, CST Trust Company, for the cash value of any fractional shares.

If you received a check from Spectra, it is likely for the last dividend payment of your Spectra Energy shares, which were paid by check. A dividend of $0.440 (USD) per share was paid on March 1, 2017 to shareholders of record on February 15, 2017.

More shareholder information on the Enbridge-Spectra merger can be found here.
