Could I please get the cost basis figure to sell the Enbridge shares I received as part of your merger?

Hello Judith,
The Enbridge/Spectra Energy merger was structured as a tax-free transaction for U.S. shareholders; therefore, in most cases, there should be no gain or loss on the exchange of legacy Spectra Energy shares for the new Enbridge shares.
Generally, the aggregate historical cost basis of your legacy Spectra Energy shares should equal the aggregate cost basis for your new Enbridge shares.
As each shareholder’s circumstances differ, however, you should consult with your own broker or financial or tax advisor as to the cost basis of your legacy Spectra Energy shares and the resulting cost basis for the Enbridge shares.
