Sustainability: Our performance
Sustainability is an important part of how we operate our business at Enbridge.
Our approach to sustainability focuses on striving to deliver measurable outcomes across environmental, social, and governance priorities, and evaluating performance over time. Sustainability considerations are incorporated into elements of our strategy and how we plan, operate and govern, with an emphasis on disciplined execution, accountability and transparency to support long‑term value creation and resilience.
Our 2025 Sustainability Report marks 25 years of sustainability reporting at Enbridge. Through our annual reporting, we provide transparent disclosure on priority topics and share progress on our performance across our business.
Select updates on key sustainability metrics for 2025 are outlined below. Read the 2025 Sustainability Report and review our Datasheet for further information about our sustainability performance.
2025 Sustainability Performance
- We continue to focus on reducing the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions intensity from our operations. In 2025, we maintained a 40% reduction in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity from a 2018 baseline,1,2,3 exceeding the 2030 target of 35% and maintaining that performance through 2025.
- We saw adjustments in our absolute GHG emissions to 18% from operations from our baseline year of 2018.1,2,4
- Methane emissions increased primarily due to the addition of our U.S. gas utilities. As we integrate these operations, we are assessing existing practices and working closely with our U.S. gas utility teams to identify measures to address methane emissions across our expanded footprint.
- Achieved a 9% reduction in total recordable injury frequency (TRIF) among employees and contractors, compared with our three-year average, just short of our targeted 10% reduction. Results reflect the first full year of including employee and contractor safety data from our U.S. gas utilities, which contributed to modest upward pressure on reported TRIF despite overall improvement year-over-year.
- Continued progress our Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan, including advancing an Indigenous equity investment in Enbridge’s Westcoast Energy pipeline system, maintaining commitments that have been achieved and integrated into our business, and progressing remaining actions outlined in our plan.
- Streamlined reporting that prioritizes key sustainability topics, introduces enhanced disclosure on energy access, reliability and affordability, and maintains broader reporting on additional topics online.

1 Our target covers 100% of our reported Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
2 GHG emissions are from assets over which we have operational control (Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions). Projected reductions of GHG emissions intensity and absolute emissions are relative to the 2018 baseline year.
3 This metric aggregates emissions and throughput for each business unit on the basis of tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per energy delivered in petajoules (PJ).
4 Absolute emissions; our net-zero ambition is forward-looking and depends on evolving technology, public policy and economic developments.
As a company, we believe it’s important to foster meaningful reconciliation within communities where we live and work.
