The Enbridge value proposition

Enbridge is North America’s premier energy delivery company—and we invest considerable time, dollars and resources to keep it that way.

Size, scope, flexibility and exceptional customer service

At 18,085 miles (29,104 kilometers) long, Enbridge's crude oil and liquids pipeline network is the longest and most complex in North America, connecting major production basins (such as the WCSB, Bakken and Permian) to key refining hubs (Eastern Canada, U.S. Midwest and U.S. Gulf Coast) and marine terminals for international exports.

We transport ~30% of the crude oil produced in the U.S. and Canada. We also account for ~70% of all U.S.-bound Canadian exports, ~40% of all the crude oil imported into the U.S. and ~25% of North America’s crude exports.

Connecting key basins and leading markets

Enbridge’s Liquids Pipelines network connects the continent’s key supply basins with the leading refinery markets. In fact, we are connected to ~75% of North America’s refining capacity, including hubs in the U.S. Midwest and U.S. Gulf Coast.

Our network is also unique for its flexibility, with multiple receipt and delivery points across the U.S. and Canada. The Enbridge Liquids Pipelines system is a complex web of energy infrastructure—with more than 20 major terminals, 200 tanks, 36 million barrels of operational tankage, 60 million barrels of contract storage capacity and 600 pump units.

We own and operate extensive storage and terminal facilities at key locations, including Hardisty in Canada, and Cushing in the U.S. This storage capacity enables optionality for our shippers to respond to changing market conditions and switch between destinations to optimize supply-demand dynamics.

Maximizing throughput via system optimization

We maintain a strong focus on customer service while achieving strong safety records. Operating the integrated Enbridge network requires seamless coordination and collaboration across our many teams. Our segregated batching system allows us to simultaneously transport multiple grades and commodity types while maintaining strict standards for petroleum quality, safety and overall efficiency.

With more than 20 receipt points and 30 delivery points across the network, we’re well suited to move heavy, medium and light crude as well as natural gas liquids (NGLs) and refined products. The system’s high utilization rate reflects our commitment to maximizing throughput via system optimization.

Enbridge’s Liquids Pipelines system is a first-choice delivery network, and our teams are committed to continuing to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Near-term opportunities

In response to our shippers’ requests on our Mainline System, we’re currently executing our Mainline Optimization Phase 1 (MLO1) which is expected to add 150 kbpd of capacity out of the WCSB in 2027. In addition, we’re exploring further optimization and expansion opportunities for incremental phased egress, including our Mainline Optimization Phase 2 (MLO2) that could add a further 250 kbpd of egress by 2028.

We are also exploring options for increased capacity on the Express and Platte systems that connect Canadian crude to U.S. midcontinent refineries as well as Cushing, OK and refineries in the U.S. Gulf Coast.

Worker climbing ladder to a tankIn 2025, Enbridge delivered more than 4.9 billion (4,991,528,892) barrels of oil, the highest annual total in our history, with a safe delivery record of better than 99.99998%.
