Enbridge’s pipeline system doesn’t just run through communities—it connects them.

Pipelines are the safest, most efficient and most reliable way to transport energy resources. Pipelines play a vital role in our everyday lives, and are essential to our quality of life and economy—moving the products necessary for transportation, heating and cooling our homes, producing our food supply and manufacturing consumer products.

Enbridge operates thousands of miles of crude oil and natural gas pipelines throughout North America. Our top priority is operating our pipeline network safely. Our pipelines meet or exceed high government standards, and we work diligently—as we have for more than a half-century—to protect our pipeline network, because it means our neighbors and employees are protected as well.

As an excavator, developer, or utility company, you also make an important contribution to the team. Your commitment to safe construction practices reduces the risk of pipeline damage, and ensures both your safety and the safety of those who live and work along the line. It’s important for all excavators and contractors along our pipeline rights-of-way to:

It's your responsibility as an excavator to make the one-call notification, and—at all times—excavate safely. Enbridge representatives must be onsite when excavation is taking place near our pipeline rights-of-way. If you strike a pipeline while digging, it's essential that you notify Enbridge immediately by calling our emergency number.

Keeping in touch with you is very important to us. That’s why we maintain contact with those neighbors who live near our pipelines and facilities—including excavators, communities, landowners, Indigenous and Native American communities, and emergency responders—on an ongoing basis. It’s an opportunity to share important information, hear about your experiences, respond to your questions and update you on Enbridge's safety, prevention and maintenance programs.
