How well are we are meeting our commitment to keep you and your neighbors safe? Judge for yourself.
For school officials
Enbridge’s pipeline system doesn’t just run through communities—it connects them.
Pipelines are one of the safest, most efficient and most reliable way to transport energy resources. Pipelines play a vital role in our everyday lives, and are essential to our quality of life and economy—moving the products necessary for transportation, heating and cooling our homes, producing our food supply and manufacturing consumer products.
Enbridge operates thousands of miles of crude oil and natural gas pipelines throughout North America. Our top priority is operating our pipeline network safely. Our pipelines meet or exceed high government standards, and we work diligently—as we have for more than a half-century—to protect our pipeline network, because it means our neighbors and employees are protected as well.
As a school official, you also make an important contribution to the team. It’s important for administrators, teachers and staff at schools along our pipeline rights-of-way to:
- Know if there are pipelines near your school, and who operates them (in the United States or Canada);
- Know how to recognize a potential pipeline leak;
- Know what to do in a pipeline emergency situation; and
- Know about 811 in the U.S. and the Call/Click Before You Dig Program in Canada, as well as safe excavation near your school.
If your school is based in the United States, we encourage you to visit the School Pipeline Safety Partnership to learn more about Enbridge pipelines that may be located near your school. Schools within 1,200 feet of an Enbridge pipeline have their own webpage on this site.
We would be pleased to meet with school officials, faculty members or maintenance supervisors to provide information about our pipeline systems and emergency response plans. It’s critical that pipeline emergency response is included in the emergency response and evacuation plan for schools near pipelines.
Enbridge representatives are also available for presentations to faculty, staff, and students, to provide information about pipelines and the role they play in meeting our energy needs. Please contact us for more information.
Safety is our No. 1 priority. By completing a survey, you help us better understand how to communicate pipeline safety information.
